Lapland is a beautiful place located within Scandinavia. Where you will be greeted by Northern Lights
Thinking about winter holidays in the height of summer might seem strange, but this is an absolute bargain.
If you've always dreamed of taking the kids to visit Santa Claus in Lapland or you just want a romantic winter break, you'll be thrilled to hear a trip to Lapland won't break the bank.
Low-cost airline Norwegian are offering ridiculously cheap flights to Lapland from December 19. Twice-weekly flights from London Gatwick to the capital – Rovaniemi – will start from just £49.90 one-way.
Operating Monday and Friday, the new low-cost journey will also offer people the chance to view the Northern Lights – something which tops most Brits' Bucket Lists.
Lapland is the largest and most northerly region of Finland. The snowy winter wonderland is most famous for being the home of Father Christmas and his reindeers.
And kids and adults alike can visit the big man in the adorably quaint Santa Claus Village.
But if fantasy ins't really your thing there are plenty of other winter activities to keep the whole family entertained.
Daredevils can whisk through the alpine forest on a thrilling husky ride, ski at the famous Levi Ski Resort or ride a snowmobile through the wilderness.
The magical destination is also home to the famous glass igloo hotel. Kaklauttanen Arctic Resort offers guests the chance to sleep under the stars (and hopefully the aurora borealis) as they drift off to sleep in a see-through igloo.
The two-person pods include a cosy double bed, a toilet and an extra bed. While saunas and showers are located in a separate building.
You can book the quirky pods from August 20 to April and prices start from around £370 per night based on two people sharing.
Norwegian airline will also be launching low-cost flights to the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik and Keflavik from November 1, prices start from £29.90 one-way.
Thomas Ramdahl, Chief Commercial Officer at Norwegian said: “We are committed to offering low-fares with choice and flexibly for our passengers.
"Both Reykjavik and Rovaniemi are fantastic additions to our growing UK route network, which now serves more than 50 destinations nonstop.
"The addition of these new routes and extra capacity to some of our most popular winter destinations will make this our busiest winter at London Gatwick.
" Our affordable fares start from £29.90, so we expect Brits to flock to the Icelandic island and Lapland this winter with the added bonus of free Wi-Fi on board.”
