THE most cheeriest place on Earth has been revealed.
Denmark is the happiest place in the world, according to a report backed by the UN.
The Scandinavian country came out on top in a study that ranked countries on factors ranging from wealth and life expectancy to “having someone to count on in times of trouble”
But where did the UK rank?Well, rainy Britain only came in at number 23 – two places down from the previous year.
Our island nation was beaten was the likes of Switzerland at number two, Iceland at number three and fellow Scandinavian finalist Norway in fourth spot.
Finland made it to number five, followed by Canada, the Netherlands and New Zealand. Sunny Australia was listed as the 9th happiest place and Sweden was 10th.
The United States came in at 13, while France was voted the 32nd happiest place and Italy only made it to the 50th spot.
American professor Jeffrey Sachs, head of the SDSN and special advisor to U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, said: “For a society that just chases money, we are chasing the wrong things.”
"There is a very strong message for my country, the United States, which is very rich, has gotten a lot richer over the last 50 years, but has gotten no happier."
"Our social fabric is deteriorating, social trust is deteriorating, faith in government is deteriorating," he added.
The report also ranked Syria, Afghanistan and eight sub-Saharan nations as the least happy countries.
The study ranked 157 countries by happiness levels using factors such as per capita gross domestic product (GDP) and healthy years of life expectancy.
And Scandinavia seems to be getting it right as the region placed first, fourth and tenth in the list of the top 10 happiest places on Earth.
Norway has also been voted the best place to live in the world 12 years running.
With dramatic mountainscapes, glaciers and the deep coastal fjords, we can see why it always comes out on top.
Reports claim that the country's "outdoor lifestyle" – which plays a role in their good health – was a key factor to their success.
Norway was also named the most prosperous country in the world for the seventh year running, which probably helped.
The stunning Scandinavian destination is also one of the best places in the world to see the illusive Northern Lights.
