Mesut Ozil Invites Brain Tumour Boy INTO Emirates Stadium

The German playmaker has invited the lad, named only as Charlie, to watch Arsenal play Sunderland at the Emirates Stadium next Tuesday.

Children’s cancer charity My Shining Star had been helping Charlie’s parents appeal for him to be an Arsenal mascot at the FA Cup Final against Chelsea later this month.

The Junior Gunner wanted to hold his idol Ozil’s hand as they walked out at Wembley.

Even Arsenal goalie Petr Cech joined Gunners fans and supporters of other clubs to call on Charlie to get an invite.

My Shining Star said the Arsenal computer system crashed due to the number of requests on behalf of Charlie from members of the public.

But Ozil went one better and one of his aides called My Shining Star to offer Charlie a ticket.

My Shining Star wrote on Facebook : “I want to say a huge heartfelt thanks on behalf of Charlie's family and of course My Shining Star for every tweet, every message of support, every offer of tickets, whatever lead you have given us.

“Last of all, it was made clear that Mesut Ozil does not want publicity for this – but I think it should absolutely be out there how amazing he, the fans, the club and opposing fans have been.

“Just amazing. You've made our day.”

Charlie has been fighting the brain tumour for two years and his parents said he is “very, very poorly”.

After suffering a relapse, he now needs treatment directly on the brain.

On his visit, Charlie will get to spend the day with Ozil and other Arsenal stars and see the players’ lounge.
