Things You Should Do To Reduce Your Cancer Risk

cancer

Cancer is one of the world’s most deadly killers.

In the UK alone, someone is diagnosed with cancer every two minutes and in 2014 there were 357,000 new cases of cancer – that’s 980 cases per day.

However, studies have shown that there are some things you can do that can significantly reduce your risk of cancer.

1. Change your diet

If you switch to an anti-inflammatory diet such as the Mediterranean diet this will help you feel a lot healthier and can be cancer resilient.

The standard North American diet is carcinogenic so by eating more vegetables, avoiding sugar and processed foods this will lower your exposure to carcinogenic foods.

2. Give up smoking

This may sound like a no-brainer but as cigarette smoke contains carcinogen – cancer causing chemicals – there has been a close link established between smoking and lung cancer.

3. Regular exercise

Regular exercise is good for your health in general but it also leads to better tissue perfusion and stimulation of the immune system.

The oxygen that penetrates the tissues prevent glycosides in the cells that do not get enough oxygen due to prolonged sitting and inactivity.

4. Manage your stress

While stress has already been proven to play a large part in causing heart attacks and strokes, it can also help to develop cancer.

This is due to an overproduction of cortisol which leads to a lack of melatonin – something that is important to help maintain a healthy immune system.

Yoga, meditation or anything you find relaxing can help rebalance your hormones.

5. Drink green tea

A recent study has shown that green tea extract actually kills oral cancer cells – without all of the side effects of chemo.
