Here's what you need to know about the Huawei P10.

Huawei hit a bit of a home run with the P9, which featured chamfered edges, minimal bezels and a good-looking screen.

As a result, the company hasn't meddled with the design much. The P10 has a slim metal body with a matte "sandblast" finish and rounded edges. As with most other smartphones, the P10 comes in two different sizes. As well as the standard version, Huawei has unveiled the P10+ with a larger display.

Intriguingly, the fingerprint scanner and home button have been moved from the rear of the phone to the front - similar to Samsung Galaxy S7.

Where Huawei has made some big changes is in the range of colours available. The company has teamed up with the Pantone Color Institute to release the phone in a range of on-trend colours designed to "embody the personalities of the contemporary consumer".

These include Pantone Greenery (the official Pantone Colour of the Year 2017), Dazzling Blue, Ceramic White, Dazzling Gold, Prestige Gold, Graphite Black, Rose Gold and Mystic Silver.

Camera

The P10's standout feature is its camera system.

Building in the success of the P9's Leica dual-lens rear camera, the P10 features an upgraded Leica dual camera with a 12MP colour sensor and 20MP monochrome sensor, designed to capture detailed facial features.

The P10 also features a Leica selfie camera, which Huawei claims brings "professional studio-like effects to enhance your portrait photography".

<>pThe phone boasts an array of tools for enhancing your photos and selfies, such as re-lighting effects and 3D facial detection technology.

Huawei's auto-sensing algorithm tracks environment lighting changes and automatically adjusts the shooting configuration for more dynamic portraits.

"The new front camera allows anyone to capture perfect portrait photography in Leica image style whilst the rear camera captures facial features with incredible detail, bringing your photos vividly to life," Huawei states.

"Whichever way your lens is pointed you will be able to make every shot a cover shot, and professional lighting effects make your subject stand out, whatever the conditions."

The P10 also comes with Huawei’s Hybrid Zoom technology, which allows users to focus in on specific areas of an image while still keeping the sharpness of image quality.

For the number-crunchers out there, the Huawei P10 features a 5.1-inch screen, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage and a 3,200mAh battery.
