Microsoft has announced Windows 10 will receive a new "game mode" feature, said to “improve the performance of your PC games".
The company hasn't given further details about how the mode actually works though it's reported that it will reduce resources used by apps and allocate all power to games.
"This is a big update for Windows; we’re looking forward to Insiders getting their hands on this new feature for further testing, and we’ll have much more to share on what it is and how it works soon, so stayed tuned," said Mike Ybarra, Microsoft's head of platform engineering for Xbox.
The update would apply to UWP games (Universal Windows Platform, built specifically for Windows 10 functionality), and more typical Win32 programs.
Beam streaming is also arriving for Xbox One and Windows 10 users as part of the associated Creators Update. Beam is a new platform similar to Twitch, but it touts real-time streaming and deeper viewer interaction.
The update is due to arrive early this year.
