She sacrificed a kidney to a stranger, has given 80 pints of blood and enrolled as a stem cell donor to give a cancer victim hope.

The hospital scientist donated her eggs to three couples to help them have children and is now planning to surrender part of her liver to save a dying patient.

When she herself dies, Tracey has signed up to give her brain to medical science to help experts researching Parkinson’s disease, which her dad has.

She had hoped to offer her entire body but was rejected because of her missing kidney.

ven in her day job she is a lifesaver, diagnosing dangerous viruses and bacteria at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, Fife, to help doctors prescribe the correct treatment to patients.

The 50-year-old said: “The feeling of saving a life is fantastic.

“I firmly believe we should all do what we can to make life as happy as possible for others.”

She first enrolled as a blood donor at 18.

Tracey, who is single with no children, has also donated a total of 16 eggs for fertilisation.

She said: “Giving childless couples the chance to become parents has given me immense joy.”

Tracey said her parents – both Army nurses – inspired her to spend her life helping others.
