Arsenal Has Completed A Deal For Cohen Bramall

Arsenal

The 20-year-old joins from Northern League Premier Division side Hednesford Town for around £40,000.

He had a trial in December and impressed Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger when he trained alongside the first-team.

Last week, Wenger compared Bramall to former Gunners defender Ashley Cole and described him as an 'exceptional physical talent'.

And Bramall has already set his sights on breaking into the first-team.

"In the next six months I want to try and build on keeping the ball, being powerful, and getting my body used to full-time football," he told Sky Sports.

"Hopefully I'll go on pre-season with them and try to break into the first team.

"That's my goal, that's what I want to do as soon as possible. I'm just going to take everything on board and go for it."

Bramall was recommended to Arsenal by scout Brian McDermott, who saw him playing in an under-23s match.

And Wenger believes Bramall is well equipped to follow in the footsteps of Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny, who have also come through from lower levels.

“I believe that when you go down, there’s mental selection,” Wenger told Arsenal Player.

“It’s a mental test - do you love football enough?

“Are you ready enough to fight [to show] that you are above this level and that you absolutely want to come back? Players like Giroud and Koscielny have had that test. They are similar to that. Once they get up, they really mean it.

“[Bramall] is a young, promising left back who has a lack of experience at the top level but who has fantastic ingredients.

“He has tremendous pace, a good left foot, a great desire to do well. Overall, he’s a very exciting prospect.”
