Windows 10 Error Message But How To Fix It

Windows 10

If you've ever had a Windows PC crash whilst you've been using it, you'll definitely have seen one of Microsoft's error codes.

These lengthy messages are often a jumble of meaningless numbers and letters, which often only make sense after a quick Google search.

However Microsoft is now setting out to make the codes easier to understand with a new online library to find out just what is wrong with your PC.

The new resource comes in a web page on Microsoft's official support site, and is called Fix Windows Update Errors.

Described as a "guided walk-through", the site looks to provide the best steps to take when confronted with some of the most common error messages.

This includes a number of notes that appear when installing Windows 10 updates, including the 0x80073712, 0x800705B4, 0x80004005, 0x8024402F, 0x80070002, 0x80070643, 0x80070003, 0x8024200B, 0x80070422, and 0x80070020 error codes.

Users are then asked to complete a series of questions what version of Windows they are using, before providing a number of tips on how best to complete the update.

The site covers Windows 10, as well as Windows 8.1 and Windows 7, meaning the vast majority of users should be covered.

Among the repair options on offer are downloads of the most recent software and support programs, updated security settings, checking for missing or corrupt files, or service registration issues.

The news comes shortly after Microsoft revealed a major upgrade in the security provisions included within Windows 10.

The company revealed that nearly all Windows 10 PCs are now running anti-virus software, thanks to the in-built Windows Defender app that's switched on automatically – unless an alternative anti-virus app is installed by the user.

Microsoft said that the reason many PCs are unprotected it due to users failing to update their devices, turning off the bundled anti-virus software – or simply snoozing it.
