London Heathrow Airport To Feature In A New Channel 4 Programme, Arrivals

London Heathrow Airport

The programme, which has been filmed exclusively at Heathrow, captures the refreshingly warm and welcoming moment when people arrive home.

The one-hour long programme has been narrated by Julie Walters.

It gives an intimate insight into the lives of some of the thousands of people that pass through the arrival halls of Heathrow’s four terminals.

More than 75 million passengers from 84 countries arrive into London Heathrow every year.

More than 1,000 people arrive at the airport each day - some just to simply come to give a heartfelt greeting to their friends and family.

RDF Television West spent several weeks at four of Heathrow’s terminals filming.

They captured some surprising yet heart-warming stories of those passing through its doors.

And the documentary goes on to tell these stories through the eyes of the passengers.

In fact, it delves deep under the skin of airport “people-watching” and reveals some incredible and momentous life stories.

Filming manager at Heathrow Rachel Betts, said: “Arrivals really captures that Love Actually atmosphere that is present in the arrivals hall, abuzz with people waiting for their loved ones.

“We hope viewers will recognise that exciting feeling of being greeted by someone they love and enjoy hearing the varied and interesting stories of the many that do the same every day.”

The documentary will be aired on Channel 4 at 7pm tomorrow (December 28).

The story comes after three friends got the full private jet experience when it turned out no-one else was boarding their 150-seater British Airways plane.

Flying from Gibraltar to London Heathrow on December 18, the women arrived at the airport only to discover they were the sole travellers on their flight.

Laura Stevens, Sarah Hunt and Laurie-Lin Waller didn’t expect to be living the high life during the two hour and 55 minute flight.

The friends were due to fly back to the UK on the 5.20pm flight after a three-day break but, having seen that it was delayed by three hours online, they decided to get to the airport a bit later.
