Lewis Hamilton Warns Mercedes Not To Change His Team

Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton has warned Mercedes not to change his team as he bids to regain his world crown in 2017.

There will be changes at Mercedes ahead of next season following Nico Rosberg's shock retirement, with Hamilton to have a new teammate.

But the three-time world champ wants to keep the same engineers and mechanics as he launches another assault on the sport's biggest prize.

"I’ll speak to Toto [Wolff, Mercedes chief] about next year and say I don’t want my guys being changed," Hamilton told Channel 4.

"I want to keep all my engineers. All my mechanics. There is not a single person who needs to leave.

"I am now their only world champion so hopefully they respect and appreciate that and the commitment I’ll put in next year."

Emotions are still running high at Mercedes following the controversial final race of the season in Abu Dhabi.

Hamilton ignored team orders and slowed down to push Rosberg back into the chasing pack to give himself the best possible chance of winning the world title.

Wolff said afterwards that he would not accept 'anarchy', but he and Hamilton have spoken since and are understood to be on better terms.
