Dave Tyler collapsed two days after visiting a Headmasters salon in Brighton in 2011.
The father-of-two had a stroke after suffering a blood clot at the hairdresser.
According to doctors, the 45-year-old tore an artery in his neck while his head was bent backwards over the basin.
This damage restricted the blood supply to his brain and the sound engineer was hospitalised for three months as a result.
When he was initially taken to London’s National Hospital, one of the Neurology consultants asked him whether he had recently had his hair cut.
Mr Tyler sued the hair salon over the incident, claiming there was only a “minimal layer of towel” to protect his neck.
The case was settled with the five-figure compensation before it went to court.
For the past five months, Mr Tyler has been building the strength to walk with the help of a stick.
He will never be able to drive again because of wobbly double vision.
