Popular Messaging app WhatsApp has finally added the ability to send GIFs to its iOS app.
GIFs - or the Graphics Interchange Format - are short looming animated images without sound, typically used on the internet to convey a reaction. Popular in the web's earlier days, the rise of social media has seen the humble GIF make a comeback - Twitter, Facebook and iMessage now support them.
And finally, they have been added to WhatsApp for iOS, allowing you to send overblown reaction GIFs to your heart's content.
Likewise, videos that are shorter than six seconds and Live Photos can also be sent as GIFs. To send a Live Photo as a GIF, simply 3D Touch the photo after tapping on Attach > Photo/Video Library and choose "Select as GIF."
WhatsApp is available as a free download on the App Store for iPhone. The app is now at version 2.16.15.
