This Areas In The UK Has An Excellent Credit Score

Residents living in Kingston Upon Thames have the best credit scores in the UK, according to research by credit checking website, ClearScore.

Those living in the south-west London borough have an average rating of 396 - 15 per cent higher than the UK - followed closely by Lerwick in the Shetland Islands with a score of 390.

The interactive map below also shows that borrowers in Sunderland have the worst credit ratings, scoring an average 317.67, marginally beaten by Kilmarnock in Scotland where people scored an average 318.13.

You can use the map to check the average credit score of your postcode and how it ranks compared to the rest of the UK.

Kilmarnock, Blackpool, Liverpool and Oldham also appear in the top five postcodes with the worst credit rating - all scoring at least 26 points below the UK average of 346.

The majority of the highest ranking postcodes are in the south east of England but the top 20 also includes three islands off the coast of Scotland.

The figures are based on the scores of 2.5 million ClearScore users, meaning they are based on people actively monitoring their credit rating.
