Barclays has launched contactless cash machines, allowing its customers to withdraw money at the tap of a phone or card.
The ATMs have initially been piloted in the north of England before being rolled out to 600 machines across Britain by the end of January next year.
Customers will be able to take out up to £100 at the in-branch cash machines, which is faster and more secure than the traditional method of inserting a card and verifying the user through a PIN, according to Barclays.
The bank said contactless withdrawals mean the card or phone never leaves the hands of customers, removing the risk of magnetic card skimming.
It also means customers will be better protected from distraction fraud - where con artists watch people enter their PIN and then distract the customer while stealing their card.
Users still be required to enter their PIN on their phone or at the cash point.
Barclays UK chief executive Ashok Vaswani said: "We are always looking for new ways to make our customers' lives easier and their finances even more secure.
"Our customers now expect to be able to use their smartphone to make their everyday purchases.
"We want taking out cash to be just as easy."
It comes amid growing popularity of contactless payments.
One in five card payments are now made via contactless, according to figures from the UK Cards Association.
And the number of contactless debit cards in circulation increased from 74.5 million to 97 million between August 2015 and 2016.
