Why Chelsea will not sack Antonio Conte

Antonio Conte

Betting companies suspended the market on Conte to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked, but the Italian has been dismissed the rumour.

Antonio Conte is not facing the sack as Chelsea manager despite a flurry of bets being put on the Italian to become the next Premier League manager to get the boot this season.

Both Betway and Paddy Power suspended the market on Conte to be the next manager in the top flight to be sacked, with Chelsea currently seventh in the Premier League table. The back-to-back defeats by Liverpool and Arsenal last month saw the pressure increase on the Italian, with club owner Roman Abramovich visiting the club's Cobham training ground to holds talks about the future of the team and their plans for the January transfer market.

The Blues take on defending champions Leicester City this weekend, and have just announced a new kit deal with Nike that will start next season worth a reported £60m per season, around double that generated with current suppliers Adidas.

The Blues are believed to have paid £40m to Adidas in order to end their agreement six years early, with the new Nike deal running until the end of the 2031/32 season.
