Tricks to keep your heart healthy

Heart disease is silent killer. This symptom can appear at any time. But don't worry this tricks will help you to keep your heart healthy.

1. Get moving

It sounds simple but by upping your level of exercise, you're lowering your risk of heart disease. Aim for 30 minutes of exercise each day, even if it's just a simple walk around your neighbourhood.

2. Start singing

A Swedish study found that singing can improve your heart rate variability, making you resilient to cardiac arrest.

3. Learn to chill out

If you're stressed out, know how to relax in an instant.

Start by lying flat on your back with your arms relaxed beside you. Slowly take some deep breaths and then, tense your toes. Count slowly to three, then relax. Work up the body, tensing and then relaxing each muscle group.

At the end of the exercise, lie with your eyes closed and continue to breath deeply before slowly bringing yourself up to a sitting position.

4. Snack on a handful of nuts

Nuts are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids which can held to protect the heart and they can also help to lower cholesterol levels. Pack a small handful in your bag each day.

5. Hang out with friends

According to social psychologist John Cacioppo form the University of Chicago, loneliness is linked to hardening of the arteries which leads to high blood pressure and an increased risk of heart disease. Make sure you pencil in time with your mates for a healthy heart.

6. Eat breakfast

A study in journal Circulation found that those who skipped breakfast had a 27% higher risk of coronary heart disease.

Note to self: eat that porridge before you leave for work.

7. Don't skip the sleep

A study by Chicago Medical School found that people who catch fewer than six hours of shut eye each night are twice as likely to have a stroke or heart attack. So make sure you hit the hay each night to catch those precious Zzz's.
