Lewis Hamilton wins US Grand Prix and leaves Nico Rosberg to the second.
Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton has won the United States Grand Prix to narrow the gap on his teammate Nico Rosberg in the race for the Formula 1 Drivers' Championship.
The Brit cruised to victory with his team shouting through the radio, "perfect race, Lewis," as he crossed the line.
Rosberg restricted the damage on his lead to just seven points, meaning the German still has an overall lead of 26 points heading to Mexico.
Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo beat out Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel for a place on the podium, with Fernando Alonso fifth.
Hamilton started from pole position and led virtually every lap in Austin to notch up his 50th career victory.
Rosberg was stuck behind Ricciardo for much of the race but did haul himself into second place when he jumped ahead of the Aussie after the second pit-stop.
The championship battle remains firmly in Rosberg's hands with just Mexico, Brazil and Abu Dhabi remaining for Hamilton to pull off an unlikely comeback to defend his title.
"What an incredible crowd," claimed a jubilant Hamilton. "I feel OK, this has always been a good hunting ground for me, it always feels like home.
"The team did a great job to put us both up there and I am very proud to be up here. Finally my 50th win.
"All I can do is my best, Nico has been driving fantastically well, so the battle will continue, I will be going for it."
