Granit Xhaka has now been sent off EIGHT times in 2.5 years

Granit Xhaka

Granit Xhaka has been sent off eight times in during his last two-and-half years.

Granit Xhaka loves a tackle, we've all seen that in his brief Arsenal career, and for the most part those tackles have been fair ones.

However that changed against Swansea City at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon, when the Swiss midfielder was given a straight red card for a reckless lunge on Moudou Barrow.

He departed the pitch with 20 minutes remaining, but the Gunners were able to hold on to the 3-2 lead they'd established while he was there.

And both the red card and the win extended remarkable records for Xhaka and Arsenal .

For the player, this was his EIGHTH red card in the last two-and-a-half years, following on from his dismissal in Switzerland's World Cup qualifier against Portugal last month.

But Gunners fans shouldn't be too concerned about his frequent early baths.

Because their team are the only one in Premier League history to have WON more matches than they've LOST when they've picked up a red card.

This victory - courtesy of a brace from Theo Walcott and a goal from birthday boy Mesut Ozil - means that they've won 30 games when they've had a man sent off, while losing 26.

Arsene Wenger's team might not have the red card reputation they once had, but maybe the Gunners boss should be encouraging his side to go down to 10 men?
