Eoin Morgan has been told he will resume his captaincy of England's one-day side in India in January despite controversially missing tour of Bangladesh amid security concerns.
Morgan and opener Alex Hales both opted out of this trip following the Isis terrorist attack in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka in July that killed 20 foreigners.
Players had been told they would not have their future selection prejudiced if they missed the tour despite the fact it had been cleared on safety grounds by the England & Wales Cricket Board.
It did not stop Andrew Strauss, England's director of cricket, saying he was "disappointed" by the pair's decision not to travel and Strauss also warned that any players opting out of the trip risked their places if others came in and impressed.
That is exactly what happened as Ben Duckett and Sam Billings hit half-centuries during Wednesday's four-wicket win against Bangladesh in Chittagong that sealed the one-day series for England 2-1.
However, Morgan has been reassured by Paul Farbrace, England's assistant coach, there is no doubt he will lead the side for the next one-day series in India in the New Year.
"Definitely – 100 percent," said Farbrace. "He will definitely be captain when we go to India. There cannot be any other way around it. He deserves it. The team is continually improving and getting better and he has been the leader and enabled so many people to play that way."
Farbrace also praised Jos Buttler, who in Morgan's absence successfully captained the one-day side here.
"Morgs is the leader of this team but it has been great for Jos to have the experience," he said. "He has done a really good job leading the team in quite tough circumstances."
England begin their preparations for the Test series today with the first of two tour matches against a Bangladesh Board XI in Chittagong.
And with Test captain Alastair Cook back home to witness the birth of his second child, Farbrace confirmed Duckett and Haseeb Hameed will open.
