Andy Murray beats Grigor Dimitrov in China Open

Andy Murray

Andy Murray has beaten Grigor Dimitrov to win his China Open title.

Murray has made no secret of his desire to become world No.1 and this result will do no harm in his quest to topple Novak Djokovic.

After the Serb won the opening two Grand Slams of the year, Murray won both Wimbledon and Olympic gold before Stan Wawrinka won the US Open.

Dimitrov was a dangerous opponent for Murray, having beaten both Wawrinka and Rafael Nadal in 2016 but Murray was too strong for him.

The Bulgarian enjoyed a brief revival at the end of the second set, winning 11 straight points to break back when Murray was serving for the match.

That forced Murray into a tie-break, which he won 7-2.

It's been an impressive set of displays from the Scot, who didn't drop a set throughout the tournament.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day Britain's Johanna Konta was beaten in her final in Beijing.
