Skyscanner have revealed the best comparisons for your next UK getaway.

Need to travel from Glasgow to Cardiff? The long train journey will set you back around £171.

But if you fly it will cost £54, a saving of £117.

Flying will also shave a huge 9 hours and 36 minutes off your journey time.

A train from Bristol to Edinburgh will cost £169.

But if you head there by plane, you’ll save £116 and 9 hours 55 minutes on time.

If you head from Glasgow to Bristol by plane, you’ll save around £96 on your fare and a staggering 12 hours and 59 minutes on your journey.

New research from global search engine Skyscanner shows that domestic flight prices are down on average 3 per cent year on year, with some destinations such as Newquay, seeing prices fall by as much as 11 per cent.

In Scotland, average flight prices to the country from UK destinations have dropped by 2.8 per cent, which could be a reason behind why many of Scotland’s cities are growing in popularity amongst the domestic traveller.

Glasgow has increased 6 per cent on domestic travel in the last year, Edinburgh 3 per cent and Aberdeen 3 per cent.

Scottish cities aren’t the only places that have seen an increase in domestic travellers, Newquay on the Cornish coast has seen domestic travel increase by 12 per cent.

Business class customers were eligible for upgrade on one leg of a long haul flight.
