Bank Of England has recently released a £5 note which worth more than £200 in EBAY.
Some of the new notes, which are rip-resistant and decorated with a portrait of Sir Winston Churchill, could be worth more than 40-times its actual monetary value.
The key detail is whether the note has a serial number starting AA01 - which indicates it as being part of the first batch of those printed.
Notes must also be in excellent condition in order to fetch high prices on online auction sites like eBay.
Already, five pound notes are being sold for eye-wateringly high sums online, with collectors scrambling to get their hands on those still in flawless conditions.
One note has already sold for £228, while a set of three has currently reached a highest bid of £275 - with two days of the auction still remaining.
The very first AA01 note was donated to the Queen, but there are 999,000 others also bearing the potentially lucrative serial number.
The new note features the line 'I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat' - a line he used in a speech after coming to power in 1940.
The five pound note is also water-proof and rip-resistent, as it is made from polymer rather than paper. They are also 15 per cent smaller than the older note.
The notes are the first of its kind printed by the Bank of England, with a new £10 set to be released 2017 and a £20 in 2020.
The new £10 will feature novelist Jane Austen and artist JMW Turner will adorn the £20 note.
