It is now almost 38 years since Sony released its first official Walkman in 1979.
The Japanese tech giant has sold in excess of 385 million of them and it's one of their most successful products ever.
Now Sony is launching a new Walkman which they reckon features the ultimate sound quality.
The gold plated WM1Z can play tracks in most modern formats including music with High Resolution Audio quality.
Also, thanks to new a tech called DSEE HX it has five modes that you can select based on the type of music you are listening to; Standard, Female Vocal, Male Vocal, Percussion or Strings.
This means it can carefully upscale lower quality files to near High Resolution Audio quality.
Unlike the original 1979 model the WM1Z can also beam music to your ears via a Bluetooth connection meaning it works with the latest wireless headphones.
With so many of us using our smartphones to play music, it may seem like a strange time to launch a standalone music player.
But Sony is confident there is still a market for this type of to audio tech.
Sadly, if you fancy one of these latest Walkmans you're going to need very...very deep pockets.
The WM1Z is going to cost €3,300 (£2,800) when it goes on sale next month.
Alongside its new Walkman Sony has also unveiled some new posh headphones.
These have been engineered using some of the world's finest materials and feature genuine leather ear pads and lightweight beta titanium headband.
As well as looking pretty tasty they also decent too – but you'd expect that when they cost a whopping €2,200.
