Mayor Sadiq Khan to bring Baseball in London

Sadiq Khan

The boss of Major League Baseball is on discussion with City Of London Mayor Sadiq Khan on how to make the game more popular in London.

The sport's commissioner, Rob Manfred, said he had discussed a variety of options after the Mayor revealed talks were under way with MLB to play matches at London Stadium.

An MLB spokesman said: "Commissioner Manfred and the Mayor of London had a very good meeting on a variety of topics. Nothing specific has been determined regarding when a game might occur in London and what teams would participate."

The MLB abandoned plans to stage a match in London in July next year after "time ran out" on negotiations for this season.

MLB has never been played in Europe, but London has hosted games in American football's NFL and basketball's NBA in recent seasons.

West Ham United are the current tenants at London Stadium, which was built to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
