Japanese Savoury Pancakes

Here is how to make Japanese Savoury Pancakes.

INGREDIENTS

  1. 100g Okonomiyaki Flour

  2. 150g Cabbage, finely chopped

  3. 120ml Water

  4. 1 Egg

  5. 2 tbsp Spring Onions, finely sliced
Topping:

Prawns & Squids

Sauces and Garnish:
  1. Okonomiyaki Sauce

  2. Mayonnaise

  3. Katsuobushi Flakes

  4. Ao-nori Sprinkles

METHODS

  1. Place okonomiyaki flour, water, egg in a bowl and mix together. Add cabbage and mix gently folding the batter well in the mixture.

  2. Oil pan generously and place on medium heat.

  3. Pour the batter and spread out to 2cm thickness by using the edge of a spoon. The pan has to be hot enough to hear a little sizzle.

  4. Add prawns, squids and spring onions, or any other topping of your choice.

  5. After a few minutes, when the base of the okonomiyaki is sturdy, flip it over using a spatula. Turn heat to low and cook for five minutes.

  6. Flip okonomiyaki again and cook for another few minutes.

  7. Garnish with okonomiyaki sauce, mayonnaise, aonori flakes and katsuobushi flakes.
