Here is the recipe on how to make Chocolate Fondue.
INGREDIENTS
For the chocolate- 150ml double cream
- 75ml milk
- 400g chocolate
- Apples
- Bananas
- Kiwi fruit
- Strawberries
- Savoiardi sponge fingers
- Chocolate Rice Krispie squares, cut in half
- Fondue set or heat resistant bowl
METHODS
- Core the apples and slice into thin wedges, put into a bowl of cold water with a squeeze of lemon while you prepare the rest of the dippers, this will prevent them discolouring. Peel and cut the bananas into 1cm thick slices. Peel the kiwi fruit and cut into slices of equal thickness to the bananas. Give the strawberries a quick rinse, but leave them whole with the stem and leaves attached if possible.
- Pour the cream and milk into a saucepan and heat gently until almost boiling. Remove from the heat and add the chocolate. Mix until the chocolate has completely melted.
- Transfer the mixture to a fondue pot set over a tea light.
- Drain the apples and pat dry with some kitchen paper.
- Arrange all the dipping ingredients on dishes around the fondue dish. Arm your guests with long handled fondue forks and let them help themselves.
- If you do not own a fondue set any heatproof bowl will do just as well. Pour the prepared chocolate sauce into the bowl and put onto a plate or trivet to protect your surface. Make sure you have a pan of simmering water on the hob, slightly smaller than the heatproof bowl. If your sauce begins to harden, set the bowl over the saucepan, turn off the heat and let it slowly melt the chocolate sauce. Return to the table and carry on dipping!
