Chocolate Brownies

Here is the complete recipe for Chocolate Brownies.

INGREDIENTS

  1. 250g butter, softened

  2. 300g muscovado sugar

  3. 4 eggs

  4. 1 level tsp baking powder

  5. 200g chocolate, 70 per cent cocoa, melted

  6. 50g chocolate bits (I blitz chocolate buttons in a processor)

  7. 120g cocoa powder 50g ground almonds

METHODS

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/gas mark 4. Grease and line a 30cm x 18cm brownie tray.

  2. Cream the butter and sugar together in a food mixer until the sugar has dissolved.

  3. With the mixer running, add one egg at a time until combined, then add the baking powder and melted chocolate to the mixture, until combined.

  4. Fold in the chocolate bits, cocoa powder, ground almonds and a pinch of salt by hand.

  5. Spread the mixture evenly into the tray and bake for 20 minutes.

  6. Allow the brownies to cool before turning out and slicing into small squares.
