SAUDI ARABIA to open world's largest hotel in MECCA

SAUDI ARABIA to open world's largest hotel to open in Mecca

A GIANT resort complete with 10,000 rooms and four helipads is set to open.

The biggest hotel in the world is currently under construction in Saudi Arabia's sacred city of Mecca.

Abraj Kudai will feature a shocking 10,00 rooms, 70 restaurants, 12 towers and four helipads.

The extravagant hotel is being funded by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Finance and is set to cost a staggering US$3.5 billion (£2.7bn) to build.

It will tower 45 storeys above the Arabian desert plains and is expected to cover a whopping 15 million square feet.

The hotel will be open to the public, albeit the very rich public, but five floors will be reserved for the Saudi royal family, should they want to holiday there.

Inside the hotel compound there will be a centre complete with bus station, shopping mall, restaurants, food courts, conference centre and car parks.

And a huge dome located on top of two towers will house a ballroom and the convention centre.

Ten of the towers will offer four-star treatment while the other two will provide the full five stars to exclusive guests.

Until now the largest hotel on the planet based on room count was First World Hotel in Malaysia with 7,351, followed by the MGM Grand in Las Vegas with 6,198 rooms.

The impressive complex will be just two kilometres from the holy Islamic pilgrimage site in Mecca, providing the perfect spot to explore the sites.

As well as being the biggest hotels in the world based on the number rooms, the gigantic structure will boast one of the largest domes on the planet.

Abraj Kudai was expected to open in 2017, but building may be delayed due to problems with the Saudi economy.
