One luxury has been re branded as a CHEAPEST AIRLINES
If you’re planning your summer holiday away, you may be feeling smug at your savvy choice to book a budget airline.
Presumably picked to save money, on the face of it it may appear the price of the ticket is all you need to concern yourself with.
But Rome2Rio’s new 2016 Global Flight Price Ranking has revealed that it’s not a budget airline that could save you money.
Because the research revealed that flying with Emirates could work out cheaper than flying with a budget airline, like Ryanair.
The travel search engine created the analysis to compare the undercover charges for passengers year on year.
And they did this by looking at the price per kilometre flown.
The research, which has been carried out four years running, revealed that Singapore-based carrier Scoot topped the list as the world’s cheapest airline.
Because Scoot’s price per kilometre averages out at 5p.
With Russia’s Aeroflot in second place and Australia’s Jetstar in third, you would be forgiven for expecting to see some budget airlines in the top 10 too.
But in actual fact Emirates came in sixth place with an average cost of 7p per kilometre.
Emirates is known for it’s luxurious style, hitting headlines when it was crowned the best airline in the world for the fourth year running.
Skytrax World Airline Awards 2016 has named Emirates as the best to fly with on the planet back in June.
The prestigious honour marks the fourth time the Middle Eastern airline has taken out the top spot.
It also won the World’s Best Inflight Entertainment and the award for the Best Airline in the Middle East.
Emirates won the first ever top accolade in the Skyline awards in 2001, then again in 2002 and 2013.
It’s also invested a staggering US$140 million into a wine programme for the whole cabin.
