China is planning to overtake USA over is MARS race.
An announcement from Bejing revealed that the country's final designs for its space probe and Mars rover that will fly to the planet sometime in the mid-2020s.
Computer-generated images were released by the Chinese State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence (SASTIND) and show the rover on the surface of Mars.
Officials say that data collected by the rover will include soil and atmosphere readings - as well as potential signs of ice or water.
At the moment, only the USA has managed to land rovers on the Martian surface. A joint mission between the European and Russian space agencies is also in development.
China is aggressively growing its ambitions in space and recently celebrated the opening of the world's largest alien-hunting telescope.
The SASTIND is holding a public competition to find a name and a logo for its new space rover.
